Putting On a Wig (With or Without Hair) by Jon Renau
Wigs can be tricky to put on particularly if you have never worn one. Follow our ElegantWigs tips about "How To Put On Your Wig".
+ Your wig should be worn on the natural hairline and for most people this is four fingers above your eyebrows.
+ Remove your wig from the box carefully and gently remove the hair net.
+ Give your wig a few shakes back and forth to release the preset styling and put body back into the style.
+ Brush your hair back off of your face at the top and the sides. Using a wig cap will help keep your existing hair in place.
+ If you have long hair, you will need to pin your hair up in order to achieve a smooth foundation for your wig. This can be achieved by parting your hair into sections and crossing the sections from one side to the other and pinning them into place.
+ Hold your wig at the sides with the woven label in the back.
+ Place your wig at your natural hairline and slide the wig on from front to back.
+ Adjust your wig so the front edge is just over your natural hairline.
+ Use the ear tabs to center your wig from left to right.
+ Adjust the Velcro tabs in the back for a secure fit.
+ Tuck in any stray hairs and you are ready to go!
If the cap construction includes adjustment Velcro tabs, they should be left put once your wig has been comfortable fitted. Velcro tabs are not meant to be opened and closed continuously since it will cause them to lose their ability to stay securely closed. It is recommended that you sew them into place once you have adjusted them to your satisfaction.
